B.Tech. Mechanical Engineers needs to play a vital role in development, operation and manufacturing of new machines, devices and processes to benefit mankind. So, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at JETGI, BARABANKI imparts technical knowledge to the students, promote their problem-solving skills and involve them in the innovation of new technologies.
Mechanical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of Mechanics, Fluid mechanics, Production and Thermal Engineering. The field first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after the commercialization of the steam engine and thermal power. It now covers a range of subtopics including Thermal power plant, Diesel and petrol based power plant, Design of machine elements and application Refrigeration and Air conditioning. The course duration is four years and it provides many job opportunities in the various fields. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at JETGI is continuously striving to achieve excellence in education, academic and industry-oriented research as well as in consultancy.
The department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the versatile and foremost departments of JETGI. The department has 15 labs with two labs for Research and Development and two more labs of student’s projects. The department is permanently affiliated to A.P.J Abdul Kalam University since 2008 due to its infrastructure and facilities.
The department has an excellent infrastructure to promote a congenial academic environment to impart quality education with well-equipped laboratories and a team of qualified and dedicated faculty members. The department also has adequate skilled and self-motivated technical staff. With the formation of technical University in UP, the syllabus of the branch is tremendously augmented with many advanced courses with focus on the basics of Manufacturing , Internal Combustion Engine, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Industrial engineering, and in-depth coverage of thermal systems with the emphasis on above areas. The students’ acquire analytical and practical skills to serve better in industrial, service and research organizational set-ups.
The department offers UG program in Mechanical Engineering. It has a plan to start a PG program (M. Tech. in Thermal Engg & Production Engg). The Departmental faculty and staff have created excellent links with industry, reputed academic institutes and research funding agencies and interact with a wide variety of companies ranging from large multinationals to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in areas as diverse as renewable energy, power generation and distribution, advanced Biomedical systems, and nanotechnology. These linkages have helped to create a stimulating learning environment for undergraduate students to become leaders in the field of Mechanical engineering.
